Rheumatology is the branch of internal medicine that treats a wide variety of diseases. Among these are osteoarthritis (with involvement such as knee, hip), abarticular rheumatism (tendinitis, bursitis, tenosynovitis), local rheumatic conditions such as sciatica, autoimmune and autoinflammatory rheumatic diseases, for example rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, immune-mediated connective tissue diseases, such as systemic lupus erythematosus, systemic scleroderma, vasculitis, idiopathic inflammatory myopathies. Microcrystalline arthritis (gout, chondrocalcinosis, calcifying tendinitis), septic arthritis and metabolic bone diseases (osteoporosis, Paget’s disease of the bone, aseptic osteonecrosis) are among the multitude of pathologies treated by rheumatologists.

The treatment strategy of rheumatic diseases involves a complex assesment of the patient, periodic monitoring and, often, chronic treatment. Rheumatologists take a hollistic approach to the care of the patient, with the objective of increasing their quality of life.

The rheumatology office within the integrated ambulatory clinic of the "St. Parascheva" Hospital Iași is located at the entrance of the hospital courtyard, in a building intended for ambulatory care. All the provided services are covered by CAS (National Health Insurance House).
