Effective communication is essential in interpersonal relationships, in the professional environment and in everyday life. Here are some suggestions for improving your communication skills: Active listening: Pay attention to what the interlocutor is saying and show your interest through facial expressions, eye contact and relevant questions. Avoid planning your response while the person is speaking. Eye Contact: Maintaining eye contact demonstrates that you are present and interested in the conversation. Don‘t overdo it, though, because it can seem intrusive. Clear Expression: Formulate your ideas in a clear and concise manner. Use plain language and avoid technical terms or jargon if the interlocutor is not familiar with them. Constructive Feedback: Give feedback in a constructive way, focusing on specific behaviors or actions, not the person themselves. Use examples to support your observations. Empathy: Show flexibility in understanding the other person‘s perspective and express your empathy. This can help build better and stronger relationships. Avoiding judgments: Avoid judging or criticizing the interlocutor. Instead, encourage him to share his thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment. Avoiding interruptions: Let the person finish their thoughts before responding. Interruptions canfrustration and indicate disrespect. Open-ended questions: Use open-ended questions (starting with "how", "what", "why") to encourage the interlocutor to develop the topic and express their thoughts in detail. Clarification: If you do not fully understand what the interlocutor is saying, ask for clarification in a respectful way. This shows that you are interested in understanding deeply. Patience: Sometimes people need time to express their thoughts or feelings. Be patient and do not pressure the interlocutor. Nonverbal: Remember nonverbal communication, facial expressions, posture, and tone of voice, which play an important role in conveying messages. Make sure your nonverbal messages match what you say verbally. Conflict resolution: In the event of a conflict, use calm and respectful communication. Listen to each other‘s point of view and find solutions together. Improving your communication skills requires constant practice and awareness of how you communicate. Over time, you will become more effective in conveying messages, understanding others, and managing difficult communication situations.
