Nurses in Private Hospitals:
Newly Qualified - €30,000 pa
Senior Staff Nurse (min.3-5 years’ experience) - €48,000 pa
Specialist Senior Staff nurse – up to €55,000 pa

This excludes employer pension contribution, holidays and overtime.

The qualification for EU nurses is a recognised qualification, and is then subject to registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (“NMBI”).

Healthcare Assistants

The qualifications required for a Homecare worker are not as onerous and an Irish recognised qualification must be obtained within 2 years of starting to work in Ireland. Currently the Homecare providers will pay for this qualification.

In June 2021 the Irish Minister of State for Business, Employment and Retail announced changes to work permit systems to allow non-EEA workers work as Health Care Assistants in either nursing homes or in patients own homes.

There are a range of remuneration levels in the sector (€24,000 - €32,000) however since June 2021 a minimum annual remuneration threshold of €27,000 has been set for this Healthcare Assistants.
